About Humble Heroes Training

The Background

Humble Heroes Training was founded in 2023 by Richard Tessell, an avid scuba diver instructor in the Chicago area who saw a need for higher quality training for CPR/AED/First Aid Training. Richard seeks to tailor programs that are uniquely designed and curated to the individuals who take them, whether they work in an office, are in a school room, at home or on a dive site. He has delivered training to over 500 people at organizations, government agencies and companies such as McDonalds, Pepsi Co, Boeing, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

We are called Humble Heroes because we recognize that when an emergency occurs, it is not the paramedic/EMT, firefighter or police officer who is first on the scene - most often it is a family member, a friend or a good samaritan who comes to the scene first - often with little or no emergency training. Our goal is to develop these humble heroes so they can save lives when they are presented with a life-threatening emergency and provide the victim with the greatest probability of survival.

Our instructors  teach programs for Health & Safety Institute (HSI),  American Heart Association (AHA, through Joliet Junior College), Dive Alert Network (DAN) and First Response Training International (FRTI).  We also teach certification programs through the scuba diving agency (NAUI). We have previously taught and on occasion teach programs with the American Red Cross (ARC).

At Humble Heroes, the intent is to provide training of the highest quality which is not only exceeding the standards, but also highly enjoyable for the participant with realistic scenarios and experiences to help make you "Rescue Ready."
